INTAJ LLC (Oman) has recently acquired state of the art Gyro tools in order to provide Gyroscopic Survey services for the Oman region. The tools in question have a proven track record of being highly accurate and robust with verified error models.

North Seeking Solid State Continuous Tracking Gyro

The Gyro  is suitable for a variety of applications including:

  • Drop method gyro surveys
  • Continuous gyro surveys using wireline with survey speeds up to 100 m/min*.
  • Memory gyro surveys using slickline or coil tubing.
  • Real-time surface readout gyro surveys
  • Real-time orientations and steering
  • Gyro multi-shot surveys
  • Gyro single-shot orientations

*Speeds are dependent on well profile

Features:

  • Solid-state north seeking gyroscopic technology (No warm up time needed)
  • High speed, high resolution continuous tracking
  • Precise accuracy unaffected by magnetic interference
  • Rugged design – reliable in extreme drilling environments
  • Real-time and memory capabilities
  • High temperature option availability

Performance:

  • Azimuth accuracy = +/- 0.1 degrees
  • Gyro tool-face accuracy = +/- 0.1 degrees
  • Inclination accuracy = +/- 0.1 degrees
  • Gravity tool-face accuracy = +/- 0.1 degrees
  • Battery life = greater than 30 hours
  • Gyro compass time ≤ 1 minute = +/- 0.75 degree

*Azimuth values are not reliable at orientations within 20° of EAST or WEST horizontal line but are valid for all other horizontal azimuths. Inclination values are valid at all orientations.

Quality Control and Assurance:

INTAJ LLC has placed a number of quality control measures in ensure that the surveys being delivered meet the required confidence level. By developing and implementing a number of procedures and processes, INTAJ LLC can always assure that the quality of survey provided is always within the High Temp Drop system’s error model range.

Calibration:

All Gyro instruments undergo a calibration process at the Manufacture’s base or control center. Measurements of known inclinations and azimuths are taken and recorded along with any delta values. A pass / fail criteria is created for the delta values.

On Job verification procedure

INTAJ LLC has set guidelines in the development of a PRE and POST job procedure where the tool’s attitude in known latitude is scrutinized. A focus on the HER (Horizontal Earth Rotation) measurements are examined as well as the GYRO sensor readings with a PASS/FAIL criteria put in place for the delta values.

This gives the clients confidence that the tool measurements were at the desired accuracy before, during and after the job.
